Here is some stuff I have seen and/or now own, which I shall hereafter present in the convenient form of a list.

Arrested Development Season One!!
Arrested Development is without a doubt the best show on television. Ever. I watched all the episode again and they were just as if not more funny than the first time I saw them. I am so glad that the show won all those Emmys, which will help ensure that it will keep getting made.

Pee Wee's Playhouse
I now own every season of this wonderful show, which sadly was only five. They should have let the show keep going even after Paul Reubens got caught doing what he was doing because that shouldn't matter. And I HATE when people accuse him of being a pedophile which he most certainly is not. That reminds me, from now on I am a steadfast defender of Michael Jackson because it's not his fault that he is so messed up in the head. He was only six (SIX!!) when the Jackson 5 started and look at what kind of lyrics he was forced to sing (in Mama's Pearl) -

You send cold chills up and down my spine
We kiss for thrills then you draw the line
                          Oh baby (oh baby)
'Cause your mama told you that love ain't right
But don't you know good lovin' is the spice of life?

No kid should be singing stuff like that. Poor Michael. And I really don't think he's a pedophile anyways.

Anyhow, Pee Wee Herman and everything he has done is GREAT (with the possible exception of Big Top Pee Wee, which was a bit mediocre). Anyways, I think my nerd cycle is heading toward nerding out on Pee Wee, which is, how do you say, ah yes, good.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Yayy for pre-Jurassic Park Steven Spielberg!! Yayy for pre-Stand By Me Richard Dreyfuss!! What a good movie.

Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home
A very good movie and the best non-TNG (that is, The Next Generation, for those of you not in the know) Star Trek movie. I like it a lot. That pretty much sums up my feelings on the movie.

I am tired and bored of this so I am gonna stop for now (oh ho, it will be like a "to be continued..." episode of Star Trek or X-Files, or really anything that has multi-part episodes). Some time I will put stuff on here about when I met Wil Wheaton (WIL WHEATON!! gasp gasp nerdspaz).

I came, I saw, I hit him right there in the jaw.

So I, uh, haven't updated in months. By that I mean that I have watched a bunch of stuff, not that things have been in any way eventful. Yes, having said that decidedly awkward sentence, I shall proceed.

STAR WARS DVD I completely nerded out the day I found out that these weren't as expensive as I had thought. I resolved to buy them, but I had to wait in a panick until the next day, when I speed-walked out of class to go drive to Best Buy to get them. I got the silver box because silver is just better and later I found out that the color difference was full screen vs. wide screen and thank goodness the silver was widescreen or that would have been the end of the world. I also must join in the rallying nerd cry of "I hate George Lucas" because his little "touch ups" were so distracting and they made me so mad. They were completely unnecessary and stupid. Also, I read some interview with him in Entertainment Weekly and he was whining about how "this was the way he wanted his movies to be and he doesn't care if these are not the movies that fans fell in love with" (as that was not a direct quote, I'm not sure why I used them quotation marks). Still, it is awesome because it is Star Wars, and I'll try to take a picture of the oh so beautiful trilogy box soon.

JURASSIC PARK DVD When I went to buy Star Wars, I felt a loyal obligation to the best and my favorite movie ever to buy it on DVD. It would have hurt JP's feelings if I had bought Star Wars before I bought it and, you know, I just couldn't do that to my comrad of 11 years my bestest movie buddy ever. I hadn't bought it previously 'cause I had it on VHS and didn't need to get it on DVD. Well, after re-watching it, I have completely re-nerded out on JP (my nerdiness goes in cycles of waning and zealous interest but of course never ceases). Oh I love that movie so much because it is just wonderful and the special effects, which were NOT "touched up" (i.e. ruined) are still flawless. Not that special effects are what make a movie good, but they are still a part of the awesome whole that is Jurassic Park.

Donnie Darko I had been worried that this was going to be another bad pseudo-underground movie like "The Crow", but it was actually good. Yayy for it.

American Beauty A GREAT movie. Really. I don't think that you need to listen to me to know that it is great, but just to reiterate Oscar's point, it's great. Great. Have you ever noticed how weird a word looks if you write it a bunch of times? Great is such a weird word. Looking at it over and over makes me wonder if I spelled it right. Great.

Being John Malkovich Another good movie that was original and different without trying to be (unlike, say, "American Splendor" which was annoyingly "different" and "outside the box" on purpose).

Shaun of the Dead Very good and funny. Highly recommended. A++++++++
(eBay version of movie reviewing)

Oh and also I went to a screening of Stand by Me and met WIL WHEATON!! Too bad for you I don't have time to write about it now. But I will soon, because it was AWESOME^(bazillion + 1)!!

Yayy for me, I have now finally seen "Fight Club". And, surprisingly enough, everyone was actually right for once because it was a really great movie. There's not much else I can elaborate on the subject, it's hard to maintain a few paragraphs about why something is great, unless it's something that you're really nerdy about and then you could bore people to death when you hear them talking about Stephen Hawking and you decide to drop the little factoid that he is the only person ever to play himself in Star Trek. Not that I have ever done this, mind you. Nor have I ever heard somebody say something and thought it sounded like a Jurassic Park quote and subsequently told them the entire scene of Jurassic Park that they reminded me of. Never.

Seen some movies lately, been to procrastinatory to write anything. Which is weird, because I don't write anything of quality, so I should be able to churn out this drivel in no time flat.

Anyways, yesterday I saw π (yayy for me, I went to the trouble of finding the code to do the symbol for pi) and I thought it was very good. It's by the same director of "Requiem for a Dream", which I also like. I really enjoy the soundtrack in "Requiem", I'm not saying that it would be a bad movie without it, but to me that soundtrack is really what makes the movie.

After watching π (a symbol, AGAIN!!) I watched Hellboy, which was a piece and a half too long. I was also a bit perturbed because the Hellboy, the main character, is so not as cool as his side-kick, this guy

I know what you're thinking...

whose name is apparently Abe Sapien. This guy (voiced by David Hyde Pierce yayy) can read minds and when he touches objects he can tell it's past and future. Maybe it's just me, buuut I think that these talents are much the superior to having a big arm that can punch things well. They don't even explain who the character is (yes, I know this is a comic book and if I was really motivated I could look it up and find out but I am not so I won't) and he just kind of takes the backseat the whole time, coming out only to SOLVE the problem and subsequently tell Big-Ugly who it is that he's supposed to beat up. The movie was ok, or it would have been if it had been a good 45 minutes shorter. And if the Abe fellow was given his due attention and credit. And if it had a better premise. And if it had better dialogue. And...

I saw the movie Snatch yesterday and I thought it was quite good. It's kind of obvious that it tried a little bit to be like "Pulp Fiction" (also awesome, "oh man, I shot Marvin in the face"), but without the whole anachronism thing. Still, it was quite good, and I actually found myself liking Brad Pitt in something. And no, I haven't seen "Fight Club" yet, even though a bazillion and one people have told me that I "have to see it!" and I wish that one of these oh-so-emphatic people would lend me the movie, because I am for sure not going to see it until I can see it for free. This is the same reason why I still have yet to see any of the Next Generation Star Trek movies (the ones with ~Data~). So if someone who tells me that I HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE! they better have a copy ready for the borrowing or else get out of my face. Boosh.

Anyways, so yeah "Snatch" was good fun and funny and the plot was intriguing and irregular and cleverly interwoven.

Yayy for Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction!!
Captain Koons - The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be darned if any of the slopes were gonna get their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something: his bum. Five long years, he wore this watch up his bum. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my bum for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.

I bet you couldn't even tell which words I edited.

Well, been busy and what not but I DID have time to waste a little money on a few DVDs. Well, it wasn't really wasting, because I am oh so thrifty.

I got a two-pack with "Young Frankenstein" (i.e. the funniest movie EVER) and "Edward Scissorhands" in it and also for $6 I got "Apt Pupil", which is supposedly good and it is based on a Stephen King novella that came from the same book of four stories as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Stand by Me" did. AND it has Sir Ian McKellen as a Nazi (wooo).

Otherwise, I haven't seen much. I have this thing now that let's me do DVR (digital video recording, like Tivo) on my computer and it is much the awesome. Soon I will have every Arrested Development ever!! Speaking of which, I can't wait for the new season to come out.

I went and saw "Napoleon Dynamite" again and it was funny but I was mad because there is a bonus scene at the end that I missed the first time I saw it and this time I waited until the end of the credits and they didn't show it and everyone was mad. Also, there were a bunch of really terrible previews.

There is a new enemy, and her name is Diana Fowley.

Look, I was able to take a photo of the devil.

I cannot describe to you how much I hate this character. She is one of the two people that temporarily "take over" the X-files during season 6 and I can't explain it but I hate her so much. I hate her more than Spender, the other guy who takes over. I hate her not for stealing Mulder and Scully's work for a short time but for being any part of the show in the first place. She threatens the sactity and purity of the X-files. Of course, when you get to season 6 it's going downhill anyways, the best episodes are most definitely the ones in the earlier seasons that don't have a unifying theme, the ones that are simply isolated cases of weird stuff.

And I know that I just sounded like a psycho nerd, so I shall conclude with a quote from the Comic Book Guy of "The Simpsons", which I chose simply because it involved Star Trek.

CBG: Yes, finally. I would like to return your quote unquote, Ultimate Belt.
Storekeeper: I see, do you have a receipt, quote unquote, sir?
CBG: I do not have a receipt, I won it as a door prize at the Star Trek convention, although I find their choice of prize highly illogical as the average Trekker has no use for a medium-sized belt.
Storekeeper: Whoa, whoa. A fat, sarcastic Star Trek fan. You must be a devil with the ladies.
CBG: Hey, I... Huh... Tha... Oh...
Storekeeper: Gee, I hate to let you down Casanova, but uh, no receipt, no return.
Bart: I'll give you four bucks for it.
CBG: Very well. It was good but it was also quite slow. At one point I recognized the person who I now know is Miguel Ferrer as being a character in "The Stand" but I couldn't remember the character's name and so I spent a good 15 minutes trying to think of it before I realized the character was named Lloyd Henreid. But my point is that I didn't miss anything important/need to catch up after having been so pre-occupied when watching this movie.

When the opening credits were rolling, I got excited because I saw Ted Levine's (who played Buffalo Bill (i.e. Jame Gumb) in "Silence of the Lambs) name but at no point in the movie did I ever see him. I *think* I heard his voice (which is very distinct) and so either they never showed him or he looks completely different.

Also from "Silence of the Lambs" (other than the director) was Paul Lazar, who in that movie played Pilcher, who was the scientist guy who asked Clarice if she would like to go with him for cheeseburgers sometime. Look, a picture

So yayy for him.

I think my favorite part in the whole movie was this Oedipus-esque scene with Liev Schriber and Meryl Streep. It was so excellent and creepy and it was the best done scene in the movie. And I know I sound a little off saying that my favorite scene in a movie was an Oedipus one between a mother and son but oh well I still liked it.

In summation, I really *guess* I liked this movie but I wouldn't recommend seeing it or see it again unless it was free.

Also, I FINALLY joined the IMDB. For some reason, I had it in my mind that it cost money to join, but turns out it's free. It's about time I joined, because I link and visit there daily. Because I'm that much of a loser.

Yayy!! I just watched an X-Files episode and Martin Ferrero, who played Donald Genarro (the lawyer, for those of you not in the know) in Jurassic Park. How EXCITING.

The episode was the last episode of the fifth season, which is about the time that the show started to head unfortunately downhill. The first three seasons are most definitely the best because they weren’t so excessively interconnected and serial. They are just more interesting to me when each episode is its own fascinating story.

This episode was full of recurring characters though - the Cigarette-Smoking Man (formally called Cancer Man) was in it and so was Krycek(!!). And my favorite - the Lone Gunmen!!

Frohike, Byers, and Langly

Yayy they are EXCELLENT!! Of course, you probably don’t understand most of what I’ve been talking about unless you haven’t watch a good bit of X-Files. And if you haven’t watched a good bit of X-Files, you should, because not having watched a good bit of X-Files makes you a loooooser.

Having alienated my readership (of no one), a shall cease this pointless writing.

Look at how regular my posting has become!! It's almost as if I'm dillusional enough to think that someone reads this.

Anyways, I saw The Village last night and it was not a complete waste of time. I knew the whole time what the "twist" was (don't worry, I'm not gonna give it away) and I was just sitting there waiting for them to explain it out but it was still an enjoyable enough movie. It's not the kind of movie I would ever want to see again, but it was an interesting story. I did not like the main character/whoever played her - she just got on my nerves the whole time. But I hadn't known that Adrian Brody was in it and I liked his character quite a bit. I found an interesting article on MSN discussing whether or not M. Night Shyamalan is a hack and I would have to agree with it that he is. But I did like "The Sixth Sense".

It's too bad that no one nowadays seems to have the ability to create genuinely surprising twists the way Rod Serling (of The Twilight Zone) could. That is one amazing show that is still excellent.

William Hurt was also in "The Village". I mention that only because it is a handy segue into a new topic - the SciFi Channel miniseries "Dune". A friend of mine made me watch this recently and it was most definately NOT my kind of movie. It's about spice. That's right, SPICE. And before you jump down my throat, yes I know that it's a metaphor for drugs. But anyways, I saw the whole thing my chief thought I was thinking while watching it was "why are their eyes blue?" Well, apparently it's the spice, just so you know.

Duney Dune Dune

But anyways, I *guess* it was mildly entertaining, though I don't lean towards fantasy as a genre in general. And this was science fantasy trying to pass itself off as science fiction. I guess it just bothers me when made up civilizations have the technology to travel in space but are wearing clothes that resemble early earth civilizations. But if you're into that kind of thing, good for you. You would enjoy "Dune".

"Dune" also had good special effects, but I don't like to designate a movie as good or bad based on its special effects. That's like looking at a bad painting and admiring the brand of paint that was used to paint it. Big budget movies full of special effects and ~awesome fight scenes!!~ just don't tend to be good (case in point - Troy).

I don't really know where I was going with that, so I am just going to stop.

Now.

Well apparently with this new "Hello from Picasa" or whatever it's called thing with blogger, I can post pictures at my leisure and not have them not work in a few weeks. When you're watching TV with people and you see the same commercial twice in a row and someone says, "didn't we just see that?" Yes, yes we did.

And speaking of commercials, have you noticed how the new NetZero commercial is a shameless copy of the Miller - President of Beers campaign, only with out the cleverness and humor?

I hereby declare the gayest looking show of the new fall season to be
The Clubhouse. It is "a drama about a 16-year-old boy who becomes a man in a world of overgrown boys when he takes a job as a batboy for a professional baseball team." I have been subjected to frequent commercials for this show while watching "Big Brother" (yes, I like Big Brother, because it's perfect for we losers who need a show that has new episodes on not once but three times a week during the summer) and it makes me sad that Christopher Lloyd, who was hilarious as Jim Ignatowski on "Taxi"("Psst...What does a yellow light mean?" "Slow down." "What...does...a...yellow...light...mean?"
) would debase himself like this. But I suppose that if you've done "Angels in the Outfield" and followed it up with "Angels in the Endzone" you're open to anything.

Speaking of terrible movies, about a month ago I was subjected to a sapfest called Secondhand Lions.

Aren't we adorable? No.

It was apparently supposed to be endearing but I guess that by "endearing" they meant stupid, because it was. I know that that wasn't a very eloquent tirade against the movie but I don't care. It doesn't deserve one. It was just lame and predictable and terrible from start to finish. People around me thought the movie was "sweet" and "heartwarming" and such and I don't know what movie they were watching but the one I was watching was more like "weak" and "plotless".

Side note (or nota bene, for fellow Latin nerds) - You'll notice that my post and the picture look better and more streamlined and while I would LOVE to take credit for it, I can't. I figure that Blogspot is trying hard to compete with the likes of Xanga and Live Journal and trying to get more people to use it. I like it better (obviously) and I think it's doing a fine job. And I'm not just saying that in apostrophe to something that can neither hear me nor comprehend what I am saying, either.

Also, the DNC (Democratic National Convention) was much the exciting to watch. But this is not a political blog so I will elaborate no further than to inform you that I made my own little sign and yelled in approval at the TV. Not that I'm crazy, mind you. But for entertainment purposes, I suggest you check out <a href="http://www.jibjab.com" " target="_blank"">Jib Jab and their very funny "This Land" video that makes fun of both candidates that will most probably get stuck in your head. So infectious...

I really should post more often so that they don't keep becoming these epic, nausea-inducing, and boring spiels. So sorry.

I have been buying a lot of DVDs lately. I guess you could say it’s my “thang”. hahaa but seriously I have a problem of compulsively buying DVDs. Here are some of the ones I have bought in the last few months -

A Mighty Wind I had only seen this once before I bought it, but I think it’s a pretty good/funny movie. I actually bought it in a two-pack with

Best in Show This is most definitely my favorite of the Christopher Guest movies. I just think it’s hilarious and everyone in it is so great and I could just watch it over and over and over.

Galaxy Quest Actually I got this one back in May but I don’t think I had mentioned it. I’ve always liked this movie and it’s even more funny to me now that I am a Star Trek fan.

Stand By Me This is my 2nd favorite movie. EVER. I can’t say enough good stuff about it. It is a wonderful movie on all levels. I just really do love this movie. It has an interesting little making-of thing on the DVD, just like about every other movie that is coming out on DVD. Luckily, the market has been so saturated with DVDs that they probably won’t become antiquated and so it is ok to buy a bunch. The only thing I didn’t like about the extra features was that it had a music video for the song “Stand by Me” with Ben E. King and at the end Wil Wheaton and River Phoenix are up there dancing with him with all these kids (by kids I mean 12ish year olds) are dancing behind them and it is pretty obvious that they have very little or no rhythm. It is a bit ludicrous. Still I LOVE STAND BY ME!!

The Shawshank Redemption Another great movie based on a Stephen King novella that’s in the book Different Seasons. Wooo for Stephen King knowledge. Yeah, I don’t know classical literature but I am an EXPERT on the master of macabre. I haven’t actually watched this since I bought it, but trust me I WILL. I remember that right after I saw this movie for the first time I saw Muppets in Space and Rizzo the rat tunneled out of a cage in a parody of Shawshank and I thought it was sooo funny. Yeah, I was a loser. WAS.

Mr. Show Seasons 1 and 2 Well, Mr. Show is no Arrested Development or South Park but it’s pretty good. Still, I think that people have attributed to it a bit too much value just because it is a so-called “cult” favorite and so people treat it like it is comedy gold. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s not funny, just that it IS a bit over-rated.

Blazing Saddles A outrageously hysterical movie. I love Gene Wilder in this movie - “Hi my name is Jim, but most people call me…Jim”. ahahaa but the only problem I have with this movie is that I don’t really like the ending and I think they could have thought of something better to do than wind up in a studio.

It Yep, I love Stephen King and this is my 2nd favorite of his books. It is a GREAT movie and quite enjoyable every time you watch it. Also it kills a ton of time because it’s looong. Notice my self-restraint of not putting a picture of Pennywise the clown here.

The Stand Another super long (6 hours) miniseries based on a Stephen King book. My FAVORITE Stephen King book in fact. I really like the way it was adapted to movie and forever will I associate Gary Sinese with Stu Redman rather than with Lieutenant Dan from Forest Gump.

I’m sexy in a baggy eyes kind of way

Oh, and I’m not ashamed to admit that at the end of “The Stand” when they show all the people that died I got a little teary-eyed. It reminded me of those “died-in-the-past-year” things they do at the Oscars et al that are always make me depressed.

Well that about does it - I’ve probably bought some more but I’ve already written waaay too much. I hoped you appreciate my consistency, what with writing 1-2 sentences about the first three movies and huge paragraphs about the others.

So yeah, movies I've seen...

I watched Independence Day (look at this link - I made it open a new window!!) on the TV on, go figure, Independence Day. I guess it was an ok movie, but some stuff was just so stupid. I hated everyone's go-get-em plucky attitude like "we're gonna beat these aliens YEAH!!". Especially Will Smith. For example, he said "Now that's what I call a close encounter" after punching an alien. What? And he would just be saying stuff when he was flying around in this little ship and it was soo annoying. So yeah I just didnt really like the story too much and the special effects were good but they aren't what I really care about when I watch a movie. Good things about the movie were that it had ~Jeff Goldblum~ (side note - I found out that this here website was listed under something called Jeff Goldblum Blogfreaks (again this opens in a new window, for your convenience of course) isn't that bizarre?) and BRENT SPINER!! His part was kind of small but I was happy. I sat through part of Dude Where's My Car? because Brent Spiner was in that too. hahaa how EXCITING. Also Judd Hirsch (i.e. Alex on "Taxi") was in it but he was too heavy on being a stereotypical Jewish father for my tastes. Overall, I really don't know how I feel about this movie, I guess it wasn't a COMPLETE waste of time...

I also saw Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and it is AWESOME!! It is most definately the best of the Original Series movies (although I haven't seen any of the Next Generation movies, I am CERTAIN that they are the best ones) and it wasn't full of itself and super-serious. It has the most absurd driving plotline though - Kirk et al have to go back to the 20th century to get humback whales (yes, WHALES) to bring back to their time (23rd century). Still it is hilarious and I love it. My favorite parts were when Chekov was asking people where the "nuclear wessels" were (see, he is Russian and it was still Cold War time) and when Spock had trouble mastering profanity (or as he and Kirk called them, "colorful metaphors"). For example:

Spock: They like you very much, but they are not the hell "your" whales.
Dr. Gillian Taylor: I suppose they told you that.
Spock: The hell they did.

ahahaa but I still think Spock is a bit overrated. I like McCoy and Chekov the best.

Wooow I wrote waaaay more than I should have, I guess it's my fault for not writing often. Anyways, so as not to put too much in one post, I will write again tomorrow. I only hope that you can handle waiting until then.

I haven't seen too much stuff lately. You would think with my actually having free time I would be watching MORE movies and TV and I have been but not really much of note.

I am loving Arrested Development more and more everyday. And now that I have been trying to tape every one (except for when one of my favorites most saddeningly got cut off by the tape) I will soon have an archive library. muah hahaa and etc.

I watched a really terrible movie called "Frogs". It's from the 70s and it's a horror movie about this old guy and his family on a Florida island that get killed by frogs. Well, they don't actually get killed by the frogs, the frogs tell their snake, alligator, and lizard friends to do the killing and then look cryptically onward.

It's such a bad movie, it makes Star Trek: the Motion Picture look Oscar-worthy. Except that the frogs have better acting skills than William Shatner. Also, on a biology nerd level, it really bothered me that these species that didn't belong together and didn't belong in the Florida everglades or wherever this stupid movie was set were just kind of thrown in there. Some of the lizards were desert lizards and some of the frogs were Africa. It was much the annoying.

Beyond that, I don't know much else significant. I have watched the South Park movie at least three times this summer because it is GREAT. In fact, I believe I will end with some quotes from that movie. Because I can.

Cartman: Kyle, all those times I called you a stupid Jew, I didn't mean it. You're not a Jew.
Kyle: Yes I am, Cartman! I *am* a Jew!
Cartman: No, no, don't be so hard on yourself.

Terrence: You're such a pig-f**ker, Phillip!
Phillip: Terrance, why would you call me a pig-f**ker?
Terrence: Well, let's see. First of all, you f**k pigs.
Phillip: Oh yeah!

And perhaps my favorite from the whole movie...

Stan: Mr. Garrison, how come our moms arrested Terrence and Phillip?
Mr. Garrison: Your moms are just upset. They're probably all on their periods or something.
Gregory: Mr. Garrison, Wendy and I think that was a sexist statement.
Mr. Garrison: Well I'm sorry Wendy, but I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.

Let's see, new things I have watched. Someone kind of got me into "Mr. Show" but I feel like a lamewad, both for jumping onto a cult-type bandwagon as well as for just using the word "lamewad". Still, it's pretty funny. AND it has David Cross, who is hilarious as Tobias on Arrested Development. Note my familiarity with the show - no quotes around it. Ohh yeah.

Also, I saw "Supersize Me" was good. Makes you feel guilty. Still, quite informative. Also makes you type in brief sentences. UNsupersized sentences. Woo, bad pun.

I've now seen the first three Star Trek movies. Once again, I don't like original series because it is not even 2/37th's as great and Next Generation (nota bene - also no quotes) but the movies are ok. I like a lot of the old characters, pretty much everyone except Kirk. I just don't like him.

Oh yeah, the new Arrested Development on Sunday was excellent (excellent and Arrested Development are synonomous yes indeed) AND they showed the first episode which hints that they are going to show them all in sequence!! So I can get 'em on tape!! And not have to wait until they come out on DVD!! And use exclamation points!!

Ok this is going nowhere so I will just put some GREAT Arrested Development quotes -

Lucille: I don't want to leave Buster alone with all the J-U-I-C-E.
Buster: I can spell, Mother; you spelled juice.
Lucille: What a genius. Let's see you find it.

Tobias: As you may or may not know, Lindsay and I have hit a bit of a rough patch.
Michael: Really? When did that start?
Tobias: Well, I don't want to blame it all on 9/11, but it certainly didn't help.

George Bluth Sr: You should have seen the look on my twin brother's face when I fired him. Oh wait, he was my twin brother, I can show you!

Michael: So when are you gonna do the trick?
Gob: Illusion Michael, illusion, a trick is something a whore does for money.
[looks at all the kids right next to him]
Gob: Or...candy

I AM the color massster.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT IS COMING BACK!!

Yayy!! I am so glad that FOX hasn't messed this one up. Granted, the only reason it's probably lasted so long is because it's executive produced/narrated by Ron Howard, but still. At least HE realizes it's good. AND they moved it to 7:30 like I have been saying all along, because part of the reson it couldn't compete was because they had scheduled it against established shows that already had a following. Hopefully more people will realize it's greatness this year.

AND...
there's a new episode THIS SUNDAY (June 6)!! I am sooo excited!!

For more on Arrested Development, go a here and look around. Or maybe I'll explain it here sometime when I get bored. Either way, it's the best current show on TV now by far.

from the show...
Gob's wife: I'm in love with your brother-in-law.
Gob: You're in love with your own brother? The one in the army?
Gob's wife: No, your sister's husband.
Gob: Michael. Michael!
Gob's wife: No, that's your sister's brother.
Gob: No, I'm my sister's brother. Hehheh Kevin Bacon. Kevin Bacon dancing. Anyways, I can't bash the movie too hard, even though they are absurdly serious about dancing, because the music in it is terribly infectuous it just makes you want to start dancing 80s style. Woohoo. Another plus - I hadn't seen this movie in 6 or 7 years and I didn't remember that John Lithgow (i.e. the dad on "3rd Rock from the Sun") was in it as the preacher who didn't want the kids to dance because it led to sin and sex.

A good lesson can be gleaned from "Footloose" about the fact that you can't keep people from doing "sinful" activities, you can just teach them moral values and hope that they do what's right. Also that small town people can be crazy. And, most importantly, Kevin Bacon likes to dance.

Yeah, so I haven't written anything in awhile. There are two reasons:
1 - my computer is stupid and I hate it
2 - I really don't have much to say

But really both of these problems should be solved soon because:
1 - I am soon getting a laptop yayy
2 - I can always find something to say, even if it's stupid

This last point is clearly illustrated by every single post I have ever made EVER. hahaa anyways, something to say...
I have been watching "Cheers" a lot lately and I like it. What weirds me out when I watch it, though, is that it makes me think about the fact that someday soon all the shows I watch during primetime will become Nick at Nite shows rather than being rerun ad nauseum on the WB. What a bizarre concept, the passage of time.

Anyways, not really much else to say, I guess I'll just put some good "Cheers" quotes here...

Norm It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I'm wearing milkbone underwear.

Carla If the Brady Bunch crashes in the Andes who would they eat first?
Woody Well probably the maid, 'cause she's not family.
Cliff Yeah, but if they were smart they would ask her the best way to prepare herself.

Carla What are you all sitting around here like a bunch of wimps for?
Norm It's what wimps do.

Woody Jack Frost nipping at your toes, Mr. Peterson?
Norm Yeah, now let's get Joe Beer nipping at my liver.

There are a lot more that you can read here, they're all pretty funny. So to you weirdos who found this site from a search engine using phrases like "hairy stephen collins" and "orlando bloom kissing other guys", please do comment. I'd wouldn't mind a few comments from you other weirdos too hahaa. Of course, "Stand by Me" describes weirdness in the best way possible:

Gordie: Do you think I'm weird?
Chris: Definitely.
Gordie: No man, seriously. Everybody's weird.

yayy "Stand by Me"!!

No, of course this wasn't all an excuse to quote "Stand by Me", silly. If you haven't seen "Troy" - don't. It was pretty fun to sit there making fun of it in my head a la "Mystery Science Theater" except that it was TWO HOURS AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES long.

Here's a rundown of a *few* of the problems I had with it:
- it was self-important
- the background music was a woman wailing
- it tried too hard to be like LOTR
- Brad Pitt is a terrible actor (which I hadn't known before because I don't see Brad Pitt movies)
- Orlando Bloom is a pansy
- Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom are both man-whores. You know, they did this same naked but tastefully covered thing with Jeff Goldblum in "The Fly" and where'd he wind up? Doing voice overs for Macintosh. Not that I'm dissing Jeff Goldblum, mind you, because he WAS in the greatest movie EVER (i.e. "Jurassic Park") and I think anyone would much rather see gratuitous naked shots of him than Brad Pitt anyways
- when Paris (Bloom) comes to see Helen to make babies and he says "do you want me to leave" and she opens her shirt and becomes topless and then starts hugging and kissing on him and he's in metal armor - it would be VERY uncomfortable to press your naked self against metal armor what a retard
- where did the Greeks get the perfectly smoothed and shaped log beams for their pyres?
- there was not one but TWO comically large and tough guys that get beat up by little guys

There's some more but I am tired of listing things. But don't think that I'm completely biased against the movie - there were two redeeming qualities in it:
- Boromir was in it
- Hector had a cute baby for a son

This baby participated in but did not win our Survivor gambling. Poor him, his people were Alicia and Susan. Didn't even have a chance.

How bizarre and funny...

We *almost* get to see him naked in "The Fly". But it's not my fault - my computer completely spazzed and I have been without internet for about three weeks. I came close to DEATH but now I'm alllllll better.

Let's see, has anything interesting happened in all that time? Nope, not a thing. I'm watching TNG start to finish - I've already watched the whole first season and just started on the second how EXCITING. Oh, and I got all eight seasons of X-Files on DVD off ebay, which is much the exciting. It was pretty cheap and it's the Asian version - the DVDs are the same but the boxes are kinda poor but I'd rather not pay 10 times more just to have fancy boxes.

Well, that's about all I can say for now. I've got a lot of catching up to do on stuff (yeah, I'm THAT nerdy). Wow blogger really changed it's look, I wonder when THAT happened? Ah well, back to the "Survivor" finale (well, second finale because this one is whoever people voted for on the internet that they thought should win) and more of that sweet sweet Star Trek. This is the life.

Sorry that I haven't been too active with the "upkeep" lately (as if everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for me to post again) but I have been busy actually doing stuff other than watching TV and movies, surprisingly enough.

I did watch the movie "Being There" the other day and it is such a cute little movie I like it a lot. It's one of those movies that you can watch one day and turn around and watch it the next day and not be tired of it (unless you did this for many days, at which point you would almost certainly get tired of it, even if it was "Jurassic Park" (I know, I know, it sounds impossible that ANYONE could get tired of "Jurassic Park", but believe me, it can happen)(I really need to cut back on these here parenthetical statements)). But anyways, "Being There" is another one of those older and slightly obscure (at least to the people around me) movies that I like, perhaps BECAUSE it is obscure. Either way, I like it quite a bit - good story, good acting, all the works.

On an exciting note, I found out that I can find this website on Google if I type in a string of obscure and unrelated words that appear on here such as "silence of the lambs data garth arrested development star trek" and the like. Not that that's really some kind of accomplishment but it makes me excited to see it pop up there like that.

Also, I really like the pictures of Data (which may or may not still be the current Buzznet picture) that I took off the TV last Friday. I can't believe that they *kinda* turned out. Of course for every good one there were at least five times as many bad ones. Also, there's that stupid SpikeTV logo on the bottom right - "First Network for Men". Oh well, guess that makes me a man then....

Bleh.

"Survivor" is such an interesting show. I don't like that a lot of TV has turned into reality shows but "Survivor" was the first real one (no, I don't like, care for, or have seen "Real World") and it's lasted so long because it is so good. I think it's good because the driving power of the show is not in stunts or gross stuff or ~romance~ but in sociology and how people interact with one another. I love that kind of stuff. As much as I sometimes don't like people, I find watching them thoroughly entertaining. At malls and such I find myself looking at people and wondering stuff like "Where did he come from? What made him who he is? Why is he at this place? What are his dreams? What are his fears? What is his relation to the person he's with?" and other such questions. Does that make me weird? I suppose you could say that, you could also say that I just like sociology. Both are acceptable, and I will tie this in with a quote from the most excellent movie "Stand by Me":

Gordie: Do you think I'm weird?
Chris: Definitely.
Gordie: No man, seriously. Am I weird?
Chris: Yeah, but so what? Everybody's weird.

That's right, you tell 'em Chris Chambers.

Woo.

"Best Week Ever" is another good show, but sometimes it's hit and miss. Still, it's fun to watch people wax nostalgic about stuff that just happened in the past week. The blog is pretty interesting, too.

Wow, I think this post was pretty lame but I felt like I needed to write something AND I was trying to make it not about Star Trek. Bleh. Hopefully I will have something worthwhile to say sometime soon, but probably not.

I think I have a problem. Everytime I like something and everyone starts to like it, it makes me stop liking it. I guess it's just no fun anymore, even though one should have the goal of converting more people to whatever one happens to like. I suppose my dislike is rooted in the fact that if something is obscure and/or a "cult" favorite and you like it and then it becomes wildly popular, people who don't know you suppose that you like the thing just because everyone else does. It's so annoying being such the trend-setter that I am hahaa. It happened most recently with "Lord of the Rings" - everyone likes LOTR, and where's the joy in THAT? I don't think it'll happen with Star Trek, though, thank goodness, because even though there are a lot of fans it is not a fad and it's not something everyone likes.

On a side note, I LOVE Anthony Heald in "Silence of the Lambs" - you just grow to hate him so much. All the thoughts I could think whenever I saw him on episodes of "Boston Public" were of Chilton.

Another side note (as if this was an organized essay), I am trying to condition myself to say "Data" everytime somebody mentions the word "data" (as in scientific data, etc.). And so I here present a poem called "Ode to Spot" by that great android Data:

Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications
that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

YAYY FOR DATA!!

Wow I just saw a life insurance commercial and the voice-over was most definately the guy who plays Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Lambs" and that was a bit creepy. He was also in "Evolution" which, though a little bit goofy, was a good movie, perhaps because it was goofy, AND it had David Duchovny. Reminds me (the commercial reminds me, that is) of this SNL skit where they're advertising life insurance and Sam Waterson (of "Law and Order") is talking and they are saying that this is the best life insurance plan because it's the only one that offers protection against robots, "for when the metal ones start their attacks" hahaa

There's no "Arrested Development" on tonight which is so much the sad that it's kinda ruined my evening. And to make matters worse, the "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" that I'm watching instead is one I've already seen.

Bleh, maybe I'll just go do something productive instead.

Nah, I sure won't - in fact, I think I'll go watch "Silence of the Lambs" oooh ye-ah!!

I think that I've decided what movie character I'm most like - Garth from Wayne's World. At that's not always necessarily a bad thing.

I bought and watched "Trekkies" yesterday and I liked it a lot. Apparently a "Trekkies 2" just came out yesterday, how ironic is THAT? To avoid the risk of making this into too much of a Star Trek love all site, I think that I will try to keep my Trek-themed posts to a minimum from now on and diversify mine repertoire
(and by the way, I did just have to look that up because I had no idea how to spell it).

"I'm having fun...not"
- Garth

And yes, I know this isn't that great of a picture. I was somehow able to resist the urge that everyone apparently gets to take an obligatory shot of his or her eyeball. Yeah, I most definately won't be taking any pictures of myself, and the ones I upload will probably not be of people anyways. I know, I've heard it, I've tried to convince myself of it too, that clean humor is just as good but the truth is that in some forms of humor foul language is necessary to carry the jokes. Especially if you're going to be an angry-type comic. For example, on Lewis Black's CD, he is talking about why he doesn't like Wisconsin (or maybe it was Minnesota) (which is where he delivers this particular stand up) and he say s "because it's f***in' cold". Now, this would not be funny at all if he ahd used the word "freakin" or "darn" or some other such word. It's like the word f**k is the highest superlative around. Like when Dennis Leary is describing NyQuil - "big N, little y, big f***in' Q". Superlative.

Some people, if they're really good, can pull off minimal swearing and still be hilarious though, people like Jerry Seinfeld are quite funny and don't rely on bad languagae. I guess it just depends on your type of comedy - in irrate, complainy comedy, it's warranted and encouraged, but if it's not appropriate it just comes off as vulgar and extraneous.

I guess you have to find a balance and identity and not try to pony up and be something you're not in order to get laughs, because people can tell. People in general who try to be funny and get attention is one thing that drives me to a Klingon-like rage*. But yeah, if you're going to do comedy it has to come from within and out of who you are, otherwise you will be terrible.

Wow, I think there may have been a little bit of "be yourself" wisdom there in that last paragraph. Rest assured it was unintentional. It's great, except for when you get songs like "Uncle F***er" stuck in your head. At church. hahaa but anyways, I was watching the credits at I found out that Brent Spiner (a.k.a. Star Trek: TNG's Data (who most definately is my ~favorite~)) does the voice of Conan O'Brien(!!). How weird!! Gotta rewind the tape (yes, yes, I know, tapes are becoming antiquated) so I can hear it. Ironically enough, there is a preview at the beginning of the tape for a documentary called "Trekkies", which I really want to see. Star Trek Deep Space 9 is good too!! I just wish I knew more Star Trek stuff because there's little worse than being an unknowlegable geek (the only thing lower is not being a geek!!) and it just makes me feel stupid that I don't know all the intricacies of the Star Trek universe yet. But I suppose I will learn in time, especially thanks to this wonderful internet thing Al Gore took a role in the creation of (he NEVER said "I created the internet", the conservative bias in the media just spun his statement that was something like "I took the initiative in the formation of the internet" or some such thing as that; I better cut the politics talk /political tirade), which will provide me with a calvalcade of pertinent information so that I can become a pillar of Star Trek nerdom. I'm watching the movie now, and just thought I would throw that out there, even though no one cares. I could so nerd out on this movie but I will not because this typing is distracting me from the BEST MOVIE EVER (i.e. "Jurassic Park"). Also I noticed a line of dialogue I never had before. In the scene where Nedry and Dodgeson ("Dodgeson, Dodgson, we've got Dodgeson here! See, nobody cares."), at the end when the check comes and Nedry says, "don't get cheap on me Dodgeson," and they look at each other, after that Nedry mutters, "that was Hammond's mistake". Hahahaa!! This is such a great movie and I love it and it brings new surprises and delights all the time!! I have actually gotten misty-eyed at the first brachiosaur sighting and the velociraptor hatching. Actually that's kinda weird, forget I said that. Oh well, better get back to quoting along with my movie...

One of the funniest things I think I have ever seen was in a made-for-TV Muppet Christmas movie a few years ago. I know that sentence makes me sound crazy, but just hear me out. Joan Cusak was the bad guy and she was in her office with her young-and-sexy type assistant and she would say something and he would turn it into an innuendo, for example: her - "I need to go home and trim the tree", followed by him - "trim the tree...". After a while of this, she screamed (well not screamed, but raised her voice) at him and said, "not everything i say is an innuendo!" Cracks me up. Just thought I would share that, hope I conveyed it clearly enough. It really was funny. Yep.

Wow. "Broadcast News" is such a good movie. It's so painfully bittersweet. And the ending is good, as opposed to that of "Grease" (see below), but I don't mean that in a sense that the ending was anything like the opposite of "Grease's" but it was very much something you would expect in real life and it isn't exactly a happy ending. You just need to see the movie for yourself!! I fear that my adult working life will become like that of Albert Brooks' character. hahaa now THAT'S a scary thought (to understand what I'm talking about, MAYBE you should go rent this movie hahahaa). But oh gosh it's so good but it's especially depressing because it's realistic and you can see the same stuff happening to yourself in the future. Sad. Bleh, I think I better go get me an hour of sleep before I have to be up for school.

Oh, here's a handy dandy link to "Broadcast News" on the IMDB (internet movie database). Bleh. At least I can watch movies while I'm doing it though. I just finished "Grease". It's a good enough movie and the songs are most definately infectious, especially if you are up late taking a boring internet driving course that's almost the exact same stuff verbatim that you learned in drivers ed. heh. Except for "Beauty School Dropout", which is long and slow and lame.

But I hate Hate HATE the end of this movie. Essentially the moral of the story is "change yourself and lose all of your morals so that you can get the guy". How retarded is THAT? It seemed like he would have accepted her anyways, what with him joining the sports team just for her and all, so why did she decide to become a slut and completely forget everything she used to stand for? Right before this happened, someone asked her if she was ok and she said, "no, not really, Frenchie, but I think I know a way I could be". WHAT?!? So she isn't happy unless she's with this boy, a boy who she has to conform herself into a ho to get him to like her? erg this ending bothers me so much!!

Well, I better get back to my "studies", i.e. I'm gonna watch "Broadcast News", which I saw some years ago but I don't remember much about it other than that I think it was good and also I think it's suffice to say that it's about some sort of news, probably news that broadcasts or something.

I got to go see Jerry Seinfeld do stand up last night and ohhhhh it was so COOL!! To hear such a familiar voice (I have, not always by choice, probably seen every "Seinfeld" episode at LEAST 3 times) and be only 22 rows away. He was most definately very funny but trying to type what he said would be pointless because it wouldn't be funny. But rest assured he still most definately has it, it being funniness I suppose. I didn't know he was 49 years old that seems weird. That was random. But even the warm-up comic that was on before him was funny.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT IS GREAT AND YOU SHOULD WATCH IT TOMORROW NIGHT AT 8:30!!

(too bad it doesn't come on at 8, because I could've had a great rhyme goin' there)

Re-wartched "Radio Flyer" last night. Gosh that movie is so depressing. Children being abused always gets me kinda down. It is sweet though, the little boys' relationships with each other.

~*~*~*~*~*~*SPOILER ALERT (as they say)*~*~*~*~*~*~
The end of this movie was so completely stupid that it *almost* made me hate the whole movie. The little boy flys away on his Radio Flyer and what? disappears to some strange place and is apparently taken care of by a random stranger who doesn't bother to ask where he came from or try to take him home? Or maybe a 5 or 6 year old boy manages to completely take care of himself AND get an education? Suspension of disbelief is spread margarine thin (yeah, yeah, yeah, so I'm not good at analogies) and I just hate it. And apparently, even though these brothers love each other so much, they never saw each other again or tried just a little bit to make contact. Urg I hate that about this movie but otherwise it is a pretty good little film.
/SPOILER (hahahahaaaaa nerdspeak)

Yeah, I sure don't have anything else to say, I guess I just wanted to throw that nerdy joke out there. And I was watching it on tape, so yes of COURSE I had watched "Arrested Development" because it's my favorite show, silly. But anyways, he has much the aged and has a big ol' gut. "Hair" is a good movie, though, and it's a little weird - it's a musical about the '60s and the Vietnam War and the ending is really sad but overall it's better than a lot of the terrible movies everyone seems to be making nowadays (i.e. "XXX", "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", et al). Here for you is the main song from the movie, just because I have mastered Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V (and also I have mastered linking, as you will notice by the effluence of said linking):

She asks me why
I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night
Hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low
Don't ask me why
Don't know
It's not for lack of break
Like the Grateful Dead
Darling

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

Let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my hair
A home for fleas
A hive for bees
A nest for birds
There ain't no words
For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder
Of my...

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

Oh say can you see
My eyes if you can
Then my hair's too short

Down to here
Down to there
Down to where
It stops by itself

They'll be ga ga at the go go
When they see me in my toga
My toga made of blond
Brilliantined
Biblical hair

My hair like Jesus wore it
Hallelujah I adore it
Hallelujah Mary loved her son
Why don't my mother love me?

I watched the first Star Trek movie and it was pretty lame. I don't really enjoy 5 minute sequences showing me the grandeur of an alien ship, sorry. It DID have Stephen Collins (i.e. dad in "7th Heaven"), so I'm sure there was some sort of moral lesson somewhere in there. The movie did give me opportunity for a good analogy I thought of, which I will hitherto relate (this is how I would tell it should someone ask me the question which would call forth this story (have you ever had a time when you knew a good quote or something and you just want someone to say something to which that quote would be appropriate?)):

I like Star Trek a lot. I saw the first Star Trek movie, and I would have to say it's pretty poor. I don't think Star Trek is poor, I just think that that movie was a bad movie. This is exactly how I feel about "The Passion of the Christ", except that it's Jesus, not Star Trek.

See? Doesn't that sound BRILLIANT? Now if only someone would ask me about it....

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the Asian guy who is on the stupid Dell commercial about the boot camp, where he is a tech person for Dell and talks to a customer, exhibiting how easy it is to get a Dell, bears an uncanny resemblence to Dr. Wu (I believe that was his name - I think it's either Henry Wu or John Wu) from "Jurassic Park"? You remember Dr. Wu - he showed the guys (Malcolm, Hammond, Grant, and Sattler - can you tell this is my favorite movie yet?) around the genetics lab, and memorably said, in response to Ian Malcolm's question of, "how do you know they're all female?" (paraphrased, sorry) with, "We designed [or maybe it was "made", I don't remember] them that way". Well anyways, this tech support kid in the Dell commercial looks a LOT like him, maybe it's his son and he got him in the business albeit on a very low rung of the entertainment ladder.

I have become such a pop culture junkie it's not even funny. I can reference shows and movies I have never even seen. Isn't that weird? I looove all those VH1 shows like "I Love the 80s" and such and my favorite is Best Week Ever, which takes a nostalgia-esque look back at the previous week. I really ought to stop watching these kind of shows and start living in the here and now (intervention time) but it's a good way to kill my Saturdays, which are either spent doing nothing or being completely swamped with stuff to do. Luckily tonight I will get to watch the first two Star Trek movies (though they are not based on TNG, sadly) and continue to increase my knowlegde of the show until I am no longer a padawan but a master. Oh wait, that's Star Wars, my bad. Umm, I will upgrade my knowlege until I am no longer an ensign (which, oddly enough, I found out is pronounced "in-sin") but a starfleet commander. Ohhh yes, I've got my pop culture throwbacks MASTERED!! Yeah, so I will be gettin' my nerd on and watching Star Trek to night. Incidentally, I also got to watch it for FIVE HOURS yesterday, how crunk is THAT? hahaa I better quit or I will never quit.

I went to see "Dawn of the Dead" yesterday and it's a good watch. It's more of an action movie than a horror movie but it was still good (and even the predictable plotlines were still amusing to watch).

But I'll tell you what DID scare me - the fact that I got my 14 year old brother and his friend into the movie. I hate breaking the rules like that (yep, I'm that much of a loser hahahaa) and it really did make me physically nauseuous (sp?), because we had to lie and say we were going to "Starsky and Hutch" (which was a decent enough movie, AND it had ~Jason Bateman~ hahaa) and I HATE lying and I am a terrible terrible liar. I guess that's a good thing, though, right?

Do you ever have movie quotes that you're just DYING for a "random" opportunity to drop? I wish I could think quicker and just be like >BAM< and you say the quote and, most amazing of all, it would be applicable. Sigh, if only....

I have most definately been stuck on this Madonna song lately. That's what I do - listen to a song over and over until I wind up being sick of it and then not listening again for another couple of months. Anyways, the video was controversial for this song because it has a black Jesus and I *think* Madonna has sex with him. Blech. I like the sound of the song more than the words but it's good all around, so here are the lyrics, so YOU can enjoy it too. I'm so nice.

"Like a Prayer" by Madonna

Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home

Refrain:

When you call my name it's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know I'll take you there

I hear your voice, it's like an angel sighing
I have no choice, I hear your voice
Feels like flying
I close my eyes, Oh God I think I'm falling
Out of the sky, I close my eyes
Heaven help me

(Refrain)

Like a child you whisper softly to me
You're in control just like a child
Now I'm dancing
It's like a dream, no end and no beginning
You're here with me, it's like a dream
Let the choir sing

(Refrain)

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there
Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery
Just like a dream, you are not what you seem
Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, I'll take you there
It's like a dream to me

Yayy look at THAT I got my links to actually WORK woow how EXCITING oh yeah my HTML skills are definately coming on up!!

/self-laudatory comments

And see look, I even just made a nerdy joke ABOUT it!! And what better time then tomorrow, especially since there will be a marathon on FX (for more info, go here) tomorrow from 1 to 4? It's such a funny show and not stupid like most sitcoms and it certainly doesn't hurt that this guy is the main character hehheh. But I like the show and it stinks that it hasn't been getting that good of ratings but at least FOX is keeping it on. Anymore I look more forward to it even than "The Simpsons", which has sadly become hit and miss this year. The should get Conan O'Brien to come back and write some more. hahaa but anyways, watch "Arrested Development" because it is funny on a higher level than all that other junk AND it's narrated by Ron Howard so you can't go wrong.

Watched "Curb Your Enthusiasm" tonight. Wasn't as good as usual - most of the expanded 30 minutes were spent showing Larry David and David Schwimmer in "The Producers" and that's just not as funny as Larry David being anal about stuff. In general the show is most definately hilarious, it stinks that they only make 10 episodes a season. Why couldn't they overkill it like "Friends", which wasn't that good of a show to begin with and now it's completely unwatchable. Not that I WOULD be watching it, because "Survivor" is on and "Survivor" is good so I watch that. I like it. It's not stupid and it's not lame and sociology is interesting.

And also I am not going to bother with italics anymore because they seem mess-up prone (scroll down a li'l ways) and also I am lazy. And also I really need to learn HTML because it's just something I should know. Oh gosh, I'm in COMPUTER GEEK territory now somebody pleeeeease help me. Not this, anything but this. hahaa I honestly don't mind, any you'll notice my good "wingin' it" skillz (with a 'z' because I feel like being both lame and stupid) if you look at that lovely sidebar because oh yes I did add some links. Because I am just that cool. I'm on the lowest rung of this particular nerd ladder because I don't know the difference between Cardassians and Romulans (but I DO know that they are somethings) and so I feel left out. Sigh, I have so much catching up to do. And it is also terrible that to watch TNG (the only one I've watched) I have to watch SpikeTV and be bombarded with commercials for a show about a cartoon stripper every 15 minutes when all I'm trying to do is get my nerd on and add another item to my geek resume, which is already much the considerable.

And until I see differently, Data is my favorite :)

I watched Dogma the other day, and I do have to say it's a pretty good movie. In fact, I think it does a better job as a movie about Christianity than The Passion of the Christ does. Someone got personally offended last week when I told them I didn't like the Passion movie. Just because it's about Jesus doesn't mean it's a good movie, it's not like He made the movie Himself.

Anyways, back to Dogma . I think it did a good job because it focussed on how the Church has messed up the original message and frustration with the church/judgmental Christians are what drive people away from the church more than anything because people see that and not the gospel. The movie was also funny, which is always a plus (unless of course it isn't a comedy, so really it's not ALWAYS a plus, my bad) and so it is enjoyable (I would think) even to non-Christian people, if only for the fact that they are losers and like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

And, no, the reason I liked the movie was NOT because they made God a woman. I am not into all that "girl power" b.s. because that is stupid. If you are gonna come at me talkin that mess you just need to shut up because you are retarded. And that stuff hasn't even been popular since 1997 and the Spice Girls anyways and it never was unstupid to begin with.

But anyways, I liked the movie and I hope that Comedy Central didn't edit out any of it but I don't know. I also reckon it would have been funnier if I was Catholic because that's where a lot of the dogma came from. At least this movie didn't add some random devil into the mix. And, speaking of Passion , why did the ~spooooky~ devil scenes make up a good portion of the preview when it was just some random thing Mel Gibson threw in their to increase theatrics?

I couldn't find the whole quote, but this is a pretty good piece of one of the parts I liked. Enjoy!!
[ about Christ ]
"What He really hates is the s**t that gets carried out in his name. Wars. Bigotry. Televangelism."
